Several times during the school year we take a break from the projects to talk about internet safety. Some of the themes we talk about are online awareness, personal safety when online, cyberbullying and netiquette to name a few. Depending on the age of the class, we use different websites dedicated to online awareness and internet safety. These sites can be found in the Lower School Internet Shortcut binder under the tab "Internet Safety." After watching the videos and vignettes, we talk as a group about the rules for staying safe when online and we relate it to being safe in the real world. For example, when we talk about going "on the internet" we say that the students need to ask a grown-up beforehand so the grown up knows "where they are and what they are doing" just like when they want to go to a friend or neighbor's home. The students in the different grades do follow-up projects as a way to help remember the rules. Some students chose to do follow-up games and quizzes; others made pictures. Here are some of them!
